Scheepjes Snowdrift Cushion Crochet Pattern (free download)

The Snowdrift Cushion is a variation on the Dandelion Clock Cushion, designed by Jellina Verhoeff. This double-sided cushion is crocheted using one yarn cake. The first side is worked from the outside of the cake and the second side from the centre. This creates a beautiful colour gradient towards the edge. Once you have made both cushion pieces, work a motif onto each piece using surface ss. The two cushion pieces are then sewed together. Please note: before you begin, calculate how much yarn you can use for each cushion piece. To do this, weigh the yarn cake without the label. For example: the cake weighs 200 grams. Allow 10% of this weight for joining the two pieces together. In this example, that is 20 grams, leaving 180 grams for the cushion pieces. Divide this amount between the two sides: 180 grams ÷ 2 = 90 grams per side. Crochet the first side until you can complete one full round without exceeding 90 grams. Make a note of how many rounds you have crocheted. Then crochet the same number of rounds for the second side, so that both cushion pieces are the same size.
